Every Collins Connect account needs to have an email address as this is what we
will use for the username as well as sending password reset information and details
of updates and new features to teacher users. The work and main email addresses
in SIMS take preference over other email types when being imported via SIMS-Sync.
The order of preference during SIMS-Sync relating to email types is as follows:
- Work with Main set
- Other with Main set
- Home with Main set
- Work with Main not set
- Other with Main not set
- Home with Main not set
You can set this by doing the following: (Show/hide text below)
Within SIMS select Focus | Person | Staff to display the Employee Details page,
and search for an existing staff member to display their details. If there
is no school domain email address present click on New adjacent to Email Addresses
panel, then enter the school email address, set the Location to Work and Main to
Yes.
If a personal email address is present it can remain, but adding the work email
address will mean that it is prioritised for use within Collins Connect.
The next time SIMS-Sync runs, the new work email address will now be picked up as
the main address.
